Ms Helena Sobulis

Last month, parents, students and staff had a chance to meet Ms Helena Sobulis our school’s incoming principal for Term 4. An experienced educator and policy advisor Ms Sobulis joins Avondale after nine years as Vice Principal at Walford Anglican School for Girls, a leading independent school in South Australia. Ms Sobulis previously acted as Senior Advisor to the Parliamentary Secretary to Australia’s Federal Minister for Education and regularly speaks at international conferences on cross-cultural environments in education.

Ms Sobulis was very impressed with the friendliness and warmth of our students, staff and parents and is very much looking forward to joining our school community in October.

Alice in Wonderland

Congratulations to everybody involved in the amazing production of Alice in Wonderland on Monday night. The effort involved in producing a School Musical of this stature was evident; from the incredible costumes to the fantastic acting and rousing music. Thank you to all our staff, parents, and of course our wonderful students, for making it all possible.

Happy Father’s Day

This week the Parents’ Association hosted the annual Father’s Day Breakfast for all Avondale dads and their children. We had a fabulous turnout with more than 200 in attendance to see our senior choir perform Coldplay’s “Viva la Vida”, and hear testimonials from students in each year level on why their dad is so special. Wishing all dads a very Happy Father’s Day.
