Healthy Lunch Box – A great way to start the day

Don’t let children skip breakfast. Children who skip breakfast generally have lower than average nutrition. Their diets contain less calcium, iron, fibre and other vitamins, which can lead to poorer concentration, have less energy to work and play, and a slower metabolism.

Here are some easy breakfast ideas:

Fresh or tinned fruit with wholegrain breakfast cereal and low fat milk.
Toast with cheese and tomato or banana and honey.
Boiled eggs with wholegrain toast.
Rolled oats with cut up fresh or dried fruit and low fat milk.
Baked beans on toast.
Tub of low fat yoghurt with fresh or tinned fruit.

If you don’t have time for any of these ideas, at least send them out the door with a piece of fruit or slice of toast and a milk drink.
