Dates to Note: 
10 September: Family Concert - Preschool will be performing in the Family Concert this term. We are the opening act, so please come along at 6pm (and bring your child!) A note will be sent home regarding this on Friday.

17 September: French Assembly – those children who are taking French with Ms Bali have been asked to participate in the school assembly in week 8. If your child takes French but does not come to school  on a Thursday and you would like them to participate, please bring them to school in the morning in their school uniform for the performance.

September is upon us…

The year is flying by and September is upon us! This term we have seen our first Book Week, Science Week, National Day and Swimming Carnival in Preschool. In between these weeks, incursions, parades and celebrations, the Kingfishers have been quietly working away (well, perhaps not always that quietly!).

One very exciting occurance was during not one, but two lunch times. We were visited by a REAL kingfisher!! Of course, the children made the logical conclusion that the bird must have known they were the Kingfisher class and therefore, had come for a visit!

This inspired the children to discuss and draw kingfishers, and have been put together to make our new welcome sign on our Preschool door.

Swimming Carnival

A big thank you to all the parents for helping at the swimming carnival. The children all had a fantastic time riding the bus, cheering on their teams and having a swim in the fabulous not-so-little splash pool!

Maths is Everywhere!

As a class we have been discovering that “Maths is Everywhere!” Looking at how mathematics works in our daily experience is what Numeracy is, and to become numerate, children in the early years need to know far more than how to count and write numerals. Following up on the week 4 newsletter about Preschool numeracy, I will be emailing to parents some of the classroom documentation on “Maths is Everywhere”.
