The Happy Campers
By all accounts, the Dads and Kids camp was a great success. With plenty of activities planned, good company and a great location, everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. A short downpour on Saturday afternoon certainly didn’t dampen any spirits. There are a lot of people wanting to sign up already for next year so perhaps we’ll have to take over the whole island in 2010. All the parents and children that went, and all the mums who didn’t go, would like to thank Kathy Png for the enormous gift of her time in organising the event. Kathy organised the event single-handedly which is an amazing feat. In the process she created a wonderful experience for our community and some beautiful, happy memories were made. Here are some of the highlights :
Ryan and I had a great time even just being there for the afternoon – not to mention the ferry ride. The venue was perfect and the weather lovely – even the rain was nice. A lovely memory of the Avondale community. – Lynne Hay, Michael & Ryan’s Mum
I loved it, especially playing soccer, making sandcastles, and playing touch footy down at the beach. - Michael Hay, Kindergarten
I had an excellent time – hadn’t done something like that for a long time. Can’t wait for next year’s camp. – Wal Hay, Michael & Ryan’s Dad
I loved roasting the marshmallows and my stick even caught on fire! Alice Bertram, Year 2
Mitchell said he loved playing in the sand on the beach, with his dad and with all his friends from school, something we haven’t done much of while in Singapore. Mitchell also enjoyed going on a treasure hunt with Hannah and Samantha and he especially enjoyed playing (Tiger Woods) which is actually tug-of-war (obviously his father’s influence) and the highlight of the trip was of course Santa! He was especially happy that Santa knew that he was in Singapore!! He has been worried that Santa would not know where he is now that he is not in Sydney. His worries have been put to rest…Thank you !! Geoff enjoyed cooking pancakes for everyone… Allyson Boneham
