Curriculum - Language

At Avondale, we believe in the potential of our students to acquire proficiency in a second language. All students must participate in our foreign language program. Our program ensures that every child receives 30 to 40 mins of tuition in their chosen language, every day. Instruction of foreign language early in a child’s education sets the stage for students to develop advanced levels of proficiency in one or more languages. Young learners have a natural curiosity about learning which is evident when they engage in learning a new language. They also are wonderfully open and accepting of people who speak other languages and come from other cultures.
Our students choose from the following Languages.

Mandarin
Through structured programs, taught daily, our fun-filled Mandarin classes aim to provide your child with maximum exposure to the language and it’s culture and history. Classroom activities include; storytelling, singing songs, play-acting, reading program, rhythms, writing, coloring, movement and public performances.

French
In the daily language classes our students explore the French language and it’s a rich history in their chosen language class. The French language program moves with the children from basic to intermediate level. The lessons include a wide range of audio-visuals, music, drama and games that engage the students and make language acquisition interesting and fun. The students are also exposed to French culture, food and geography.
