School Camps

Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in the Camp program. Camps and activities depend upon the needs and maturity of the year group. Expected outcomes are;

  • A fostering of student independence
  • Students learning about their environment
  • Students discovering survival skills outdoors
  • The enhancement of group dynamics
  • The development of a sense of community within the student group;
  • Providing experiences for students outside their normal school life

An example of the camp format for each year is:

Kindergarten and Year 1: A special excursion during the day, for example, Forest Adventure Park, then return to school for a swim and early barbecue and collected by parents at about 7pm

Year 2: Bird Keeper Explorer Overnight Camp at Jurong Bird Park. Students explore the bird park during the day and pitch tents with some feathered friends for the night! Students return to school the following morning.

Year 3 – 6: A three-night stay at an exciting facility, sometimes in another country. Past camp experiences have included Riders Lodge in Johor Bahru (a horse riding stable and accommodation) and Loola Adventure Resort on Bintan Island.

Camp week is a very exciting time and is a wonderful personal development opportunity for all Avondale students.
