Our New Location

We are pleased to announce some exciting news about the future position of Avondale Grammar School. The school has recently secured a new site at 318 Phoenix Park on Tanglin Road (District 9). Phoenix Park is a prime location in Singapore and we believe the new location will be more convenient for expatriate families and is an improvement on our current site at Toa Payoh.

Avondale Grammar School will begin the 2010 school year at Phoenix Park. Tours of the new site will be offered towards the end of the year, when the renovations of the site are close to completion.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to extend the lease at our Toa Payoh campus. The reason for the move is due to road works starting at Toa Payoh Rise with the plan for a circle line to be put in place for the new MRT running through our current campus. The MRT is sad news for Avondale, as Toa Payoh has been an excellent first site for the children in our school.

Our focus now, is to ensure that the move to Phoenix Park is a positive transition for the current children at Avondale and we are confident that the move will contribute to the growth of the school.

Phoenix Park Updates

Phoenix Park Update 9th December 2009

Tours of the Phoenix Park site for current parents began on 26th November. If you have not yet managed to see the site, please call enrolments and a separate arrangement can be made. Thank you to parents for the many positive comments and suggestions for January 2010.

Please be aware that with the move to Phoenix Park, email and phone lines will be down on Friday the 18th December. The emergency contact number that will be available is 8223 0991. The children will have finished up for the term on Thursday the 17th December following the Celebrate 2009 Assembly. The School Office plans to be fully operational at Phoenix Park from Monday the 21st December on the current number of 625 88544.

Update 20th November

There has been pleasing progress at the Phoenix Park site this week.  Developments this week include;

• Installation and painting of school gate
• Toilets and basins installed in the bathrooms
• Ceilings installed
• Laying of the flooring has started and will be completed over the weekend.
  

Tours for current parents will begin next Thursday, so parents can see the positive progress to date and ask questions.  Please complete the tour form sent home this week and return to the front office to book a tour.

Whilst there is still a great deal of work to be completed before January, it is tremendous to see the progress made. We will be showcasing a completed classroom on the tours for next week which will provide a good visual for parents.

Update 12th November

The works at Phoenix Park are progressing well. The following has been completed;

• Demolition and reconfiguration of all rooms
• Landfill and turfing of the playing field
• Decking around the canteen area
• Tiling of bathrooms
  
• Stage installed in the school hall
• Additional windows for lighting
• Air conditioning installed
• School grounds fenced
  

The works will continue and new developments will be communicated on a weekly basis.
